# Create and manage Event roles

Create an Event role when your team uses a responsibility name across more than one event. Keep names short and clear so they work well in event and task selectors.

The Event Roles section is the shared starting point for these definitions. The unsaved editor below shows the name and description fields.

## Create or edit an Event role

1. Open **Workspace Settings** and select **Roles**.
2. In **Event Roles**, select **New Event Role** to create a role, or select the pencil icon beside an existing role.
3. Enter or update the role name.
4. Select **Save**.

The active role becomes available when assigning Event roles on an event.

## Archive an Event role

Select the archive icon beside an active role when your team should no longer use it. FlowerBuddy archives the role and removes it from the active Event Roles list.

Archive is the retirement action available from this list. It preserves the role record instead of deleting it.
