# Event roles

An Event role is a shared responsibility name that can be assigned to a person on an event. It is useful when the same responsibilities recur, such as **Designer** or **Delivery Lead**. A task can also be assigned to an Event role, so the task follows the person filling that role on the event.

Event roles are not workspace roles. They do not restrict a member's access to pages or records. Workspace roles manage access, while Event roles describe responsibility on an event.

The Event Roles section appears below Workspace Roles on the same tab.

Create and maintain the shared names here. Assign people to those roles from an event's **Details** tab. Archived Event roles stay part of existing assignments but are not available for normal new assignments.
