# Locations & Addresses

Use **Locations & Addresses** to make an Inventory location meaningful to the team. An **Inventory Address** is the larger place, such as `Main studio` or `Warehouse`. An **Inventory Location** is the specific place under it, such as `Vase shelving` or `Receiving rack`.

An item has one optional Inventory Location. Assigning it does not transfer stock or split an item between addresses. It simply tells a teammate where to look. Use the add controls in an address section to build the structure, then choose the location when adding or editing an Inventory item.

Plan deletion carefully. Deleting an address also deletes its locations. Deleting a location keeps the Inventory items but leaves them without a listed location.
