# Inventory items

The **Inventory** tab is the working list of hard goods your business tracks. A row represents one FlowerBuddy item, not one event need. Use it to see where an item is now, open its details, and start a quantity action.

## Read the quantities

**Total** is the number currently owned or tracked. It always equals **In Stock** plus **Rented**, **Receiving**, and **Purchased**. **In Stock** is ready to use. **Rented** is out for an event or general use. **Receiving** has arrived but has not been put away. **Purchased** has been recorded as bought but has not arrived. **Quantity Needed** is a shopping-list request, so it is not included in Total.

For example, six vases in stock and two being received show a Total of eight. If a team member pulls three for an event, In Stock becomes three and Rented becomes three. The Total remains eight unless items are sold, lost, or a count is adjusted.

## Open an item

Use **Search**, **Category**, or **Color** to find a row, then select its chevron. The expanded row shows the location, item details, quantities, and actions such as **Edit Stock Levels**, **Edit Item Details**, **Pull Item**, **Return Item**, or **Remove from Inventory**. The available actions reflect the quantities on the record.

Use **Edit Stock Levels** for a count correction, not to record an ordinary purchase or return. Use the transaction actions when you want the **Log** to show why stock moved.
