# Inventory

**Inventory** tracks the hard goods your business owns or is acquiring, where they are stored, and why their quantities changed. It is different from Purchasing, which plans supplier orders for event recipes.

Use the **Inventory** tab to maintain a stock record and begin a count correction, pull, restock, or removal. Use **Report** to compare selected event needs with stock without reserving it. Use **Purchases** to move an internal shopping-list request through Purchased, Receiving, and In Stock. Use **Log** to investigate a quantity change. Use **Locations & Addresses** to identify where the item is stored.

## Decide where to work

For example, add 12 vases to **Purchases** when you need to acquire them, mark them purchased only after the external purchase is arranged, receive them when delivered, and stock them when shelved. Use **Inventory** to pull six for an event and **Log** to confirm the resulting movement. None of these internal records charge a card, send a supplier message, or create a purchase order.

Inventory Management is available on eligible workspaces when it is enabled. It does not replace the [Purchasing](/reference/purchasing.md) page or an event's order needs. The [Inventory Report](/reference/inventory/report.md) is not the workspace [Reports](/reference/reports.md) page.
