# Form fields

**Form Fields** defines the questions recipients answer on the public form. Each field has a type, question text, optional description text, a **Required** setting, and a position in the form.

The available field types are:

* **Contact Details** collects client information such as name, email, phone, address, or company.
* **Event Date** collects a calendar date. The first event-date field is used for an event created from the submission.
* **Generic Text** collects a single-line or paragraph answer.
* **Generic Number** collects an integer or decimal answer.
* **Multiple Choice** lets the recipient choose one option.
* **Multiple Select** lets the recipient choose more than one option.
* **Professional Contact** collects information about another person involved in the event, such as a planner or venue contact.
* **Recipe Quantity** lets the recipient enter quantities for selected recipes from a linked event template.
* **Timeline Item** collects a date, time, and location for an event activity.

The **Add Field** menu shows the available types before a field is added.

## Required information for event creation

FlowerBuddy warns when a form has no **Contact Details** field or no **Event Date** field. It also warns when those fields exist but are not required. A contact field can be present without collecting an email address, but choose the sub-fields that let your team identify and follow up with the person.

Recipe quantities depend on the event template linked in **Form Details**. The event template supplies the recipes that can be selected for a **Recipe Quantity** field.
