# Duplicate an event

Duplicate an event when you need a separate event that starts from similar information. Use duplication for a new record. Do not use it when the goal is to save reusable setup for future events. For that purpose, create a template from the source event instead.

## Choose the source event

On the **Events** page, open the action menu for an event you can edit and create from. Select **Duplicate Event**. Review the duplicate dialog and enter the new event information required by the dialog.

The duplicate is a separate record. Treat its name, date, clients, pricing, and other copied information as the new event's information, and review what should remain before continuing. Do not assume that later changes to the source event will update the duplicate.

The duplicate dialog lets you review the copied event information before creating the separate record.

## Open the duplicate event

Select **Duplicate Event** in the dialog. The new [Event Page](/reference/event-page.md) opens with its own event number. The original event remains on the **Events** page.

Duplication creates another event. It does not book the source, sign a contract, record a payment, or create a continuing template relationship.
