# Edit and delete event templates

The **Actions** column on the **Event Templates** tab keeps changes to a saved template separate from creating a new event. Use the pencil control to edit the reusable setup, or the trash control to remove a template that should no longer be offered as a starting point.

## Edit a template

1. Open **Event Templates**.
2. Find the template in the list.
3. Select **Edit Template** in its **Actions** column, or select the template name.
4. Make the change in the [Event Template editor](/reference/event-templates/editor.md).

The editor opens on the saved template. Changes affect future events created from the updated template. They do not revise events that were already created from an earlier version.

## Delete a template

Select **Delete Template** for the row you want to remove. Review the template name in the confirmation dialog before selecting **Delete**.

The confirmation dialog gives you one last chance to keep the template. Select **Cancel** when the template should remain available.

After you confirm, the template is removed from the library and is no longer available for new event creation. Existing events are separate records and are not changed by editing or deleting the saved template.
