# Create and edit email templates

Open **Event Templates** from the **Events** section in the left navigation, select **Email Templates**, and choose **New Email Template**. The dialog keeps the identifying fields and rich-text message together.

The editor below shows the fields and toolbar used to create a reusable message. Use the controls in the dialog to prepare the saved version, then use it from an event when you are ready to personalize and copy it.

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2616748322-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FUtdSEPutB4SrRwwUMOIx%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0912665a16f5ad54c57b431ba3cbf7c5356060c8%2F07-email-template-editor.png?alt=media" alt="New Email Template dialog showing Name, Description (optional), Subject, Body, rich-text formatting toolbar, and Cancel and Create actions" width="550"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

## Add the message details

Enter a required value in **Name**. Use **Description (optional)** to explain when the message is useful to your team. The description helps you search and identify the saved template; it is not the email body.

Enter the reusable subject in **Subject**. Insert variables when the subject should include event or contact details. Write the message in **Body** using the rich-text editor.

## Format the body

The editor supports these meaningful formatting choices:

* **Style** sets a paragraph or Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3.
* **Bold**, **Italic**, **Underline**, and **Text color** format selected text.
* **Add or edit link** adds a web address or mailto link. Variables can be inserted into a supported link value.
* **Add image** inserts a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image. Select an image to replace it, edit its alt text, align it, or delete it.
* **Bulleted list**, **Numbered list**, **Align left**, **Align center**, and **Align right** organize the message.
* **Undo** and **Redo** help recover recent edits.

Keep the message useful when a variable has no value. FlowerBuddy shows a fallback value for missing text variables, while a missing proposal link requires attention before a client can use that link.

## Save or cancel the draft

For a new message, select **Create**. For an existing message, select **Save Changes**. The save action updates the library row and closes the dialog.

Select **Cancel** to close the dialog. If you changed a saved draft, FlowerBuddy asks whether to discard the unsaved changes before closing.
