# Configure proposal defaults

Use the Proposal tab to decide what a new proposal should show and how it should look. The settings are copied into events created without an event template, so review them whenever your standard proposal changes.

## Set expiration and date visibility

1. Open **Event Settings** and select **Proposal**.
2. Turn **Expires** on when proposals should have a time limit.
3. Enter the period in **Expires After (days)**.
4. Turn **Show Date** on when the event date should appear in the proposal.

The default is a number of days; an individual event's Proposal tab uses an expiration date. This does not replace the event date or payment deadlines.

## Configure proposal sections

Use **Add Section** to add content, **Reorder Sections** to arrange it, and **Section Settings** to change one section's presentation. Within a section, **Show Heading** controls its heading and **Delete Section** removes that section. The same controls are explained in [Proposal sections](/reference/event-page/proposal/design-and-sections.md).

Include the information a client needs to evaluate the work in the proposal. Keep detailed internal planning in the event build and related florist-facing views, not in a client-facing proposal section.

## Configure Document Design

Select **Configure** in **Document Design**. Choose the **Background**, **Texture**, **Default Font**, and **Default Font Color** that should start in new proposals. These choices save as you change them; select **Hide** to collapse the controls.

Use **Bulk Update Sections Style** to apply selected style properties across sections, then select **Update** in that dialog. [Proposal design](/reference/event-page/proposal/style-the-proposal.md) explains those shared design controls. They change presentation, not event pricing, contract terms, or payment schedules.

## Understand the scope

Saving here changes the default proposal setup for future events created without an event template. It does not update an existing event's proposal. To change one event, open that event's proposal settings.
