# Event Settings

Event Settings controls how events start and how your workspace describes event progress. Use it to maintain shared Workflow Status definitions and the defaults copied into new events.

Most settings on this page are creation-time defaults. When you create an event without an event template, FlowerBuddy copies values such as pricing assumptions, proposal settings, payment schedules, contract defaults, and timezone into that event. Changing the default later does not continuously update events that already exist. To change one existing event, use that event's own settings.

An event template is a separate reusable starting point. When you select a template during event creation, the template supplies its saved setup instead of relying on the ordinary Event Settings defaults for the values it contains. Editing a template later does not update events that were created from it.

Workflow Statuses work differently. Their names, descriptions, colors, order, and archived state are shared workspace definitions. Existing events can use those definitions, so changing a Workflow Status is not the same as changing a default copied into future events.

Some tabs or controls can be unavailable because of plan access, workspace permissions, connected payment processors, or signature authorization. The setting remains part of the product even when your workspace cannot use it yet.
