# Taxes, Discounts, & Fees

The **Taxes, Discounts, & Fees** tab applies event taxes and discounts, then shows certain client payment charges and costs incurred by the florist. It is the place to review how those amounts affect the event without mixing them into floral recipes.

These categories are different:

* **Taxes** use reusable Tax Profiles and the taxable recipes or other line items in this event.
* **Discounts** reduce the client price by a fixed amount or a percentage.
* **Application Fees** are charges added to eligible client payments when that payment option is enabled.
* **Overhead Costs** on this tab show applicable FlowerBuddy and payment-processing costs incurred by the florist.

Manually created delivery, setup, or similar charges are [other costs on the Recipes tab](/reference/event-page/recipes/add-and-manage-other-costs.md), not fees entered here.

This example shows the tab's main regions. The tax row identifies a reusable percentage tax and shows the calculated Cost beside its Price. The empty Discounts region is ready for an event discount, while Overhead Costs shows the applicable FlowerBuddy cost separately.

## Taxes

A Tax Profile is a reusable named tax defined as a percentage or amount. A Tax Group is a saved collection of Tax Profiles. Adding a group saves time when the same set of taxes applies together.

Each recipe and eligible line item has a **Sales Tax** setting that determines whether it contributes to the taxable amount. Adding a tax to this tab does not make every recipe taxable by itself.

The tax row's Cost is FlowerBuddy's calculated tax. Its Price is the amount included in the event's client price. A warning appears when no tax is calculated or when a tax Price differs from its calculated Cost.

## Discounts

An event can have multiple discounts. A fixed discount subtracts one amount. A percentage discount calculates its value from all eligible line items or from a selected set.

For example, a percentage discount can apply to floral arrangements while excluding a separate rental line. The **Applies to** selection controls the percentage's base without changing the underlying recipes or other costs.

## Application Fees and Overhead Costs

The **Application Fees** section appears when application fees are enabled for the event. Its rows are created from completed electronic payments with an application fee. They are reviewed here, but they are not entered or edited as manual event charges on this tab.

**Overhead Costs** can show the FlowerBuddy fee and an estimated payment-processing cost. These are florist costs used in profit calculations. They are not the same as an application fee charged to a client.

The Event Page summary brings the full result together. **Cost** includes the event costs FlowerBuddy knows about. **Price** includes the subtotal, discounts, tax, and application fees. **Est. Profit** compares price with cost. Complete recipe, other-cost, overhead, tax, and payment information makes that estimate more useful.
