# Materials

The **Materials** tab stores reusable hard goods and mechanics, such as vases, containers, and supplies. Use it to maintain the details that help identify and price an item when it is added to a recipe.

Materials are not Inventory. A material describes what you might use in a design. **Inventory** records how much of an item your business holds and where it is stored.
