# Map tax profiles to reporting categories

**Tax Profile Mappings** connects FlowerBuddy tax profiles with the reporting categories used for revenue recognition. It is part of [Accounting > Accounts](/reference/accounting/accounts.md), separate from the controls that define tax rates.

## Select a category

1. Open **Accounting**, then **Accounts**.
2. Find **Tax Profile Mappings** below the reporting-category table.
3. Find the tax profile by its name and **Rate**.
4. Choose its **FlowerBuddy category**.

The selection saves when changed. The **QuickBooks account** column shows the account mapped to that category. Check it before using the mapping in event accounting.

## Check mapping status

**Mapped** means the tax profile has a reporting category and that category has a QuickBooks account mapping.

**Needs mapping** means the tax profile does not yet have a category. Choose the category that identifies where you report that tax in QuickBooks.

**Needs QBO account** means a **FlowerBuddy category** has been selected, but that category still needs its QuickBooks account mapping. Complete it in the reporting-category table above. See [Manage reporting categories](/reference/accounting/accounts/manage-reporting-categories.md).

**Saving** means FlowerBuddy is saving the current change. Wait for the final status and address any displayed error before continuing.

## Keep mappings separate from tax rates

Changing a category here does not change the tax's percentage, fixed amount, or application to event items. It changes the accounting destination associated with the tax profile. Confirm that destination with the person responsible for your bookkeeping.

If the table says **No tax profiles found**, add the tax profile in [Core Data](/reference/core-data.md) before returning to map it.
