# Manage reporting categories

Reporting categories connect FlowerBuddy amounts with QuickBooks accounts. Manage them on [Accounting > Accounts](/reference/accounting/accounts.md), then assign categories to event line items and tax profiles according to how you report those amounts.

## Add a category

At the bottom of the reporting-category table, enter a **Category name**. Choose a **QuickBooks income account** if it is ready to map, or leave **Unmapped** to add the category before completing its mapping. Select **Add**.

Use names your team can recognize when mapping an event, such as Floral arrangements or Delivery. These are examples; use categories suited to your business and accounting setup.

## Map an existing category

In the category's row, choose its **QuickBooks income account**. The selection saves when changed. **Mapped** indicates that the category has an account mapping; **Needs mapping** identifies a category that still needs one. **Saving** appears while a change is being saved.

The account dropdown contains eligible income and liability accounts from the connected company. Select **Refresh QBO accounts** if a newly added eligible account is missing.

## Choose a discount account

After selecting an income account, choose the category's **QuickBooks discount account**. **Use income account** keeps discounts with the category's income account. Select a separate account only when that is how your business wants those discounts recorded.

This mapping controls where discounts are recorded. It does not add a discount to an event or change its amount.

## Rename a category

Select the pencil button beside the FlowerBuddy category name. In **Rename FlowerBuddy Category**, enter the new **Category name** and select **Save**. Renaming the category changes its FlowerBuddy label; it does not rename the connected QuickBooks account.

Next, use [event line-item mapping](/reference/event-page/accounting/map-event-line-items-to-reporting-accounts.md) or [tax profile mappings](/reference/accounting/accounts/map-tax-profiles.md) to associate amounts with the category.
