Configure deferred revenue

Deferred Revenue Setup on Accounting > Accounts supplies the settings used when FlowerBuddy records received event payments in QuickBooks. Choose the settings approved for your business before reviewing cash receipts.

Choose the three settings

  1. Open Accounting, then Accounts.

  2. In Deferred Revenue Setup, choose the Deferred revenue account.

  3. Choose the Deposit account.

  4. Choose the Deferred revenue product/service.

Each selection saves when you change it. Review all three saved values before continuing to Cash Receipts.

Understand the choices

The Deferred revenue account holds the received amount before revenue recognition. FlowerBuddy offers eligible liability accounts from the connected QuickBooks company.

The Deposit account is the account used for the linked QuickBooks payment. Eligible choices include bank and other-current-asset accounts. Choose the account that matches your bookkeeping process rather than relying on a suggested name.

The Deferred revenue product/service is used on the QuickBooks invoice. It must be an eligible service or non-inventory item with an account assigned in QuickBooks.

Check the account match

The selected product/service should point to the same account as Deferred revenue account. If FlowerBuddy displays a mismatch warning, correct the selected product/service or its account in QuickBooks before syncing a receipt.

Use Refresh QBO accounts after changing accounts or products/services in QuickBooks. If a choice still does not appear, check its type and account assignment in QuickBooks.

Return to Cash Receipts when setup is complete. A Needs setup status directs you back to these settings when a required value is missing or unsuitable.
